Agency Operations Specialist

Katie James

Katie brings nearly 20 years of experience in marketing, communications, and operations to the DOM team. Her specialty? Making things work better — for everyone. As Agency Operations Specialist, she evaluates systems, untangles inefficiencies, and helps keep DOM running like a well-oiled (but never boring) machine.

Before DOM, Katie built her career leading marketing and communications at organizations like The Children’s Institute of Pittsburgh, MPC, and Spider Learning. She’s worn a lot of hats — Director of Operations, SME, Admissions and Marketing — and somehow kept them all straight. She’s also taken the stage at The Church Network’s annual conference to talk about branding and programming alignment, which sounds like a mouthful but really just means she knows how to connect the dots between big ideas and real-world execution.

She holds an MFA in Creative Nonfiction from Chatham University and a BA in English Literature & Writing from Pitt-Johnstown. No surprise, she’s got a storyteller’s brain and an editor’s eye — a combination that helps her see both the forest and the trees when it comes to agency workflow.

Outside the office, Katie is… busy. She’s par-Aunt-ing three of the best kids on the planet, running a plant hospice for hardware store rescues, and keeping company with two cats and a dog. She once worked in Yellowstone National Park, has hiked to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, and is actively working toward her CAPM certification.

She’s not one to brag, but if there’s a weird little process nobody’s figured out yet, there’s a good chance Katie already has a color-coded plan for that.
